Did you know that Gainesville is known as The Poultry Capital of the World?

Post card of Gainesville, circa 1900, featuring Green and Academy Streets.

In 1945 a group of people known as Gainesvillians met up for a meeting every Thursday night at the ballroom of Dixie Hunt Hotel to study Literature. Those clubs became less popular, later.
The sport that Gainesville liked and played was baseball, football, basketball and then golf came along. Many of Gainesville's classic old homes have had changes and disasters. These homes are now used for services. The Gainesville area has improved little by little. Gainesville is one of GA cities that has many tall buildings and parks.
Right now in 2010, Gainesville has many more people than it used to have; especially new advanced technology, equipment, music, different cultures and foods. There are way more celebrations and parties so as you can see, Gainesville, Geogia has improved a lot. That was some of the history of Gainesville.
